That was a conversation that Remus didn’t want to have, but he knew right away that she’d noticed that he was suddenly shifting his behavior. She deflated a little, and he felt bad. He spun the bottle in his hands as he listened to her recap what happened the previous week on the radio show. If he were less… himself, he might have made a move on her already. If he were more confident, less… werewolf. Maybe younger, more handsome. Someone who she could be proud to be seen with, someone with fewer issues to work through. He couldn’t put her through that, even if she did want to be with him.
“That’s right,” he said, trying to play off the sudden shift in mood. He did enjoy the show, must most of all he liked being around her. Even if nothing could come from it, he wanted to be around her when he could. She was a ray of sunshine on his otherwise pretty cloudy existence.
