The way he rushed out of the kitchen and away from her flirtations was unmistakable, though it was decidedly less clear whether she made him uncomfortable because he didn’t know how to let her down, or because he didn’t know how to flirt back. It was, however, mildly frustrating, and made her want to confront him about it. She just didn’t quite know how. It could end badly for her, or maybe he really hadn’t picked up on it and they’d both be embarrassed.
“Uhm,” she blinked a few times, and followed him more slowly back into the living room, taking the time to take the bottle off her beer manually to allow her the time to think for a moment. “It was a cliffhanger. We’re supposed to find out if they were able to stop the runaway train before it fell through the broken tracks where the bridge is out. Oh, and who the father of Rosemarie’s baby is.” The radio show was garbage, Dora was well aware, but she liked it, and she liked that Remus seemed to be into it; on the other hand, as she watched him, she felt a tiny bit deflated as she went through all the scenarios that began with her trying to have a discussion about the chemistry between them and ended with one or both of them being embarrassed when he didn’t think that chemistry existed.
