"I'm alright," Higgs replied returning the hug Gladys offered. "I'm sure it was a hard task for Gemma to leave me any cake," he commented teasingly, before giving a small shake of his head. "I'm glad she's back to feeling well enough for cake, though," Higgs said since it hadn't been too long since Gemma had gotten out of hospital. "And we can eat here," he added when Gladys asked, since Higgs was doubtful he'd mind terribly if Dennis opted to serenade them during the dinner. Walking across the room, Higgs took a seat on the sofa, giving Gladys a smile. "Have you been well?" He asked hopeful that the answer was 'yes'. He assumed she would've told him if she hadn't been already.
After a brief pause, Higgs shrugged. "I am alright," he repeated. "I kind of sorted out the problem I was having yesterday," well, that was probably more a lie than not since Higgs had hardly sorted it, but he did at least feel confident in saying that Siobhan still wanted to be his friend, even if Max clearly didn't. "I also can't tell you much about it, which I realise is quite unhelpful," Higgs admitted. It wasn't his place to say anything, though Higgs did wish he could tell Gladys, sure that her advice on the whole situation would be far more valuable than the one Higgs had offered Siobhan.
