Siobhan wasn't sure she knew how to approach that sort of conversation with Max. Higgs's gentle urging, she knew, was truthful. She couldn't just keep ignoring the elephant in the room. Eventually it would get so large that she might suffocate under the weight of it all. "But what if that ruins everything?" she questioned. The thought of being alone made her terrified, but it was the thought of losing Max that bothered her more. All her thoughts of the wedding had gone completely out of her mind and were replaced with the realization that the conversation she was going to have to have with Max may result in there never being a wedding.
"What if what he tells me is that I'm not what he wants?" she said simply, pulling back a little and standing up from the table. "Thank you for the coffee, Higgs," Siobhan said, putting on the smile that she often used to mask what was going on in her mind. "I should probably get back to work before they send a search party after me. Can I owl you later? Maybe I can buy you lunch to make up for missing dinner the other day."
