Siobhan laughed. "Well, I'm sure that you're doing your civic duty very well, then," she said. She wasn't overly concerned about gossip. People were going to talk about people no matter who they were. It was just one of those things that she'd gotten used to and didn't really care much about. If anything, she thought it was hilarious that people would believe things just because they were printed in the papers. As if that made them true.
"I've been alright," she told him. "I'm sorry about missing the dinner, too. I'm glad that the two of you at least had an alright time in my absence." The question about food and the subsequent question and apology made her smile. "You're fine," she told him. "And I did enjoy the food. So did my coworker. I'd better not let her know that you're here or she might beg you for another care package."
