"Oh, no," George said when Alicia had finished saying silly words about things being 'safe,' "forts at home." He squinted a bit as he counted off on his fingers. "Um, in our bedroom, out in the orchard, and in the living room." He grinned a little sheepishly. "Mum hated that so much."
Okay, so she'd made a suggestion and it would be rude to continue ignoring it in favor of his own childhood brilliance, so he actually considered what she said. "Yeah, okay," he said, "if you want to be reasonable." And of course, George almost never did. But what she'd suggested made a fair amount of sense, because it was going to be a lot of work to build and ugh being responsible was dumb.
