Who: Andrew Kirke and Evan Potter.
What: Evan is late to the party.
Where: Evan's house.
When: Saturday 19th November, 8.20pm.
Once Evan had suggested that the theme for Andrew's birthday reflect the fact it had to be delayed, everything else had come together pretty quickly. Andrew was particularly thrilled with the venue, and had been eager to show it to Evan since he'd walked into it. It was a museum and a party, both at the same time! It seemed like a good mix of their interests, and while Andrew knew that Evan had reservations about dressing up, he hoped he'd genuinely enjoy getting to look at all the old things on display behind the glass. The only thing stopping Andrew from sharing all this immediately was that he seemed to have lost Evan. They'd got ready separately, because Andrew had had to be on site to make sure the drinks and the music and Aisling's cake were all set up properly. He'd changed in the museum's bathroom, stuffing his clothes into a bag to be collected later. He'd expected Evan to show up more or less on time, but hadn't been worried when others arrived first.
By eight, though, Andrew was starting to feel concerned. Evan wouldn't forget about his party, and he wouldn't not come without telling Andrew why, but the venue wasn't so big that Andrew should be unable to find any individual for this long. After walking the length of the hall three times, Andrew was forced to come to the conclusion that Evan wasn't there. Maybe he'd tried to apparate and got lost somewhere? But Evan knew he could just take the Knight Bus. Maybe he'd gotten splinched? Or been distracted by something and not realised the time?
Andrew tried to wait another half hour for Evan to arrive, but after twenty minutes he was too impatient to enjoy himself. He couldn't apparate home, and his costume was not appropriate for public transport, so he stepped out the museum's staff entrance and hailed the Knight Bus. Despite how busy it was, no one batted an eyelid at Andrew's lack of clothes, and he was mostly grateful that he wasn't recognised by Quake fans. (They were probably all at the party.)
Once he reached Evan's flat, Andrew had to knock to be let in. It felt very weird, standing on the doorstep. It had been months since he'd had to do that - he usually apparated straight into Evan's bedroom or flooed into the living room. He hoped Evan was actually in and that Andrew hadn't just missed him.
