It had been an odd day for Higgs. Yesterday, at his group meeting, the people he did it with had all agreed that they should meet for an early lunch the following day. It was Higgs' second Armistice Day that he spent not being a soldier since first joining the army, but last year's had mostly gone by in a blur with moving and readjusting to new things. This year, he had much more time to actually appreciate the day. To pay his respects and to remember those who had fallen, both one's Higgs had known and many of the soldiers he hadn't. It was a good day. And Higgs was sure if he repeated that long enough to himself, he'd begin to believe it.
By the time early evening came, Higgs had excused himself from the offer to go to the pub with the other members of his group, not trusting himself to be in loud, potentially brightly lit places today. Maybe next week, he had offered and they had agreed. So now, Higgs was catching up with some shopping, needing to order new robes for work, some which may not be covered utterly in cat hair. He was on his way across Diagon, needing to kill an hour before he could pick the new clothes up when he literally ran into someone.
"So sorry," Higgs offered before even having a chance to actually see who the stranger was. Then, once he did look, it turned out that the woman wasn't a strange at all. "Siobhan," Higgs greeted happily. "Lovely to see you," he told her. "Despite my clumsiness," Higgs added before giving a small chuckle. "At least it doesn't require us to go to St Mungo's," he said somewhat teasingly, since Higgs' clumsiness had been much more unfortunate for Siobhan's fiance.
