The offer was kind, Higgs thought, so he gave Siobhan a soft smile. "Thank you," he said. "I appreciate that," he added truthfully, because it really was very nice of Siobhan to offer to listen if he needed to be listened to. Higgs wouldn't have really blamed her if she rather chose to back away and not deal with whatever Higgs' issues might be, since Siobhan hardly knew him. It didn't surprise him, though, that that was far from what she did. When Siobhan added that she'd been told that she was a good listener, Higgs gave a soft laugh.
"We've got that in common," he told her. "So the offer is definitely mutual," Higgs offered. "I can be quite good at listening, and I don't make a half-bad citrus tart," Higgs added, the smile on his lips easily returning to the amused way it had sat there before Siobhan's question about Higgs' Thursday evenings.
