Higgs strongly doubted that Max was going to loosen up, but at least he had seen a more pleasant side of him in the way he had spoken to Siobhan. Higgs felt he would've been rather unimpressed if Max hadn't appreciated how lucky he was to be engaged to someone like Siobhan, that, however, had proved not to be the case. There was something very pleasing about that. Higgs enjoyed seeing people happy together.
When Siobhan confirmed that she could certainly provide a dessert, Higgs grinned. "Great!" He announced. "Shall we say some time next week?" He offered. "Presuming neither you nor Max are too busy," Higgs added. Max, Higgs was sure, would rather they didn't have dinner ever again, but the fact that Siobhan was so happy to disregard that particular childish notion amused Higgs a great deal. "I can do most evenings apart from Thursday," he told Siobhan.
