"It's something I knew I could do?" Higgs offered somewhat unhelpfully. Being a hitwizard had, in many respects, kind of just seemed fitting. It had been mostly down to the fact that Higgs wasn't sure he'd be any good at anything but law enforcement of some kind. "I joined the army when I was eighteen, straight out of Hogwarts," Higgs explained. "Was never very good in school, you see," he told Siobhan honestly. Higgs had never felt shame in admitting that he had been a bad student. Books had never been very nice to Higgs. "My mum's family, they're Muggle, military. So she suggested the army," he told Siobhan. "I enlisted," which sounded about as straightforward as it had actually been.
Taking a sip of his drink, Higgs put the mug back down carefully. "Being a hitwizard is definitely different from being a soldier," Higgs confirmed. "But I almost didn't quite expect how different? I do a lot more paperwork now," he said with a small chuckle. Higgs was not a big fan of paperwork, he had discovered this fact really rather quickly into his new job. "I'm good at it," he admitted. "The job," Higgs clarified. "Not the paperwork," because he truly was not very good at paperwork. Or at least certainly didn't enjoy it one bit, which, perhaps, was more common. Then after a small moment, Higgs laughed. "Well, I suppose you have no great proof of my abilities at my job, since as far as you're concerned all I do is accidentally get stuck to other people."
