"She said that an engagement by the end of the year would be good," she laughed. "I'm sure that Roger will pass out laughing the minute I inform him of how soon he needs to be buying me a ring." She didn't need a ring, nor want want any time soon. Still, it was amusing to think of Roger's face when she told him what her mother had said in regards to their relationship.
"I guess we should both be glad that we happened to be attracted to men that our mother doesn't completely disapprove of," she said. "It would be much worse to have to deal with her complaining about them not being up to snuff than hoping they hurry up and give us rings."
