Evan felt rather proud with his plan. It had taken him awhile to get all the pieces together and truthfully he couldn’t have done so if Andrew hadn’t agreed to financially contribute to the said pieces. Except Evan hadn’t told him yet what they were. He’d told Andrew that morning that the portkey they were taking was going to take them to the USA, because really, the border control, even for wizards, was pretty tough. Not knowing where you were going wasn’t quite an option. But the rest of it, the specifics of Evan’s plan, Andrew had not been told yet.
The equivalent to the Ministry in Florida, where they arrived, didn’t hold them up too long in customs and rather speedily they managed to get to a Floo that would take them directly to the Disney World’s hotel that Evan had booked them into. Apparently Disney World was so big it actually had its own Floo entrance. It was rather handy, Evan thought. It wasn’t until they actually checked-in and got to their room that Evan grinned wide at Andrew. He had no doubt that Andrew by now was well aware where they were, the Disney merchandise everywhere was rather obvious. This, though, wasn’t even Evan’s surprise. It was just a pretty handy place to stay.
“So I have a schedule,” Evan informed Andrew as he dumped his bag down before kneeling in front of it to pull out the pieces of paper where Evan had outlined his plan. “Today, we investigate the hotel and eat,” Evan informed Andrew handing over a map of the hotel and a sheet which proclaimed ‘FRIDAY’ at the top. Friday really did mostly include staying where they were, attempting to avoid jetlag, and on three separate occasions Evan had included ‘have sex if appropriate (and probably even if not)’.
“Then,” Evan continued, handing over another sheet of paper, this one marked with ‘SATURDAY’. “Tomorrow, we go to Disney World. There’s lots of things to do and investigate,” Evan advised as if Andrew might be unaware of what Disney World was. Then, in contrary to that thought, Evan did smirk at Andrew. “You can meet all your favourite Disney princesses. Maybe even wear a tiara,” he commented. “And in the evening,” Evan said leaning in closer so he could tap his finger against the bottom of the page. “There’s fireworks!” He announced happily. “It’s not quite Guy Fawkes night but it’s the best I can do in America,” Evan added with a small shrug.
Next, Evan handed Andrew the sheet marked ‘SUNDAY / ANDREW’S BIRTHDAY’, which currently said nothing but ‘surprise’ on it. “Evidently, a surprise,” Evan said repeating what the sheet had already informed Andrew off. “And on Monday I’ve booked us a tour to see places in Florida but I have no idea what that will include,” he explained with a shrug. It had had a multitude of stars and good reviews so Evan had figured why not.
“And on Tuesday morning we go home,” Evan concluded, before giving Andrew a smile that was borderline blinding. “Are you excited?” He asked in a tone that implied that Evan himself was really quite excited.
--
Even before he’d known what the non-surprise pieces of the plan were, Andrew had been excited. Getting to spend a whole four days away somewhere with Evan could not have been more welcome. Andrew really hadn’t known what to expect, but apparently he’d misjudged Evan because he certainly hadn’t expected America, not to mention Disneyland. He hoisted his bag onto the bed, casting a charm to carefully unpack his clothes, and then turned to watch as Evan rummaged around. “Of course you do,” he said, fondly. He’d had a sample of Evan’s scheduling in their previous holiday, so it really came as no surprise that Evan had thoroughly organised their time so they’d make the most of everything. “I like Friday,” he added, smirking at the many opportunities Evan had found for them to have sex.
Saturday came as less of a surprise than it might have - Andrew had assumed that if they were staying in a Disney hotel they were probably going to Disney World at some point. “Roller-coasters and Disney princess and you,” he listed, grinning. Honestly, what could be better? “I like Saturday too.” His grin widened when Evan told him there would be fireworks. He’d been genuinely a little sad to think he was missing them, and a warmth settled in his stomach that Evan had found a way to ensure he would get fireworks after all. “You’re amazing,” Andrew told him, catching hold of Evan’s waist and pulling him close for a kiss. “Thank you.”
As he was handed the Sunday sheet, Andrew did his best to make pleading puppy-dog eyes at Evan. “I want to know what my surprise is,” he whined, but he couldn’t keep the smile off his lips. Honestly, he’d rather Evan not tell him. Andrew liked surprises - but he apparently had enough Ravenclaw traits that he had to at least ask. “Is it something Disney?”
--
Evan laughed when Andrew told him that he liked Friday. Evan, too, was a big fan of Friday’s schedule, and felt rather pleased because if they did have sex it would at least aid to sleeping through the night and cancel out all potential jetlag (though, Evan had ensured they had some potions just in case anyway, couldn’t let something like that ruin the fun). At the confirmation that Andrew liked Saturday, too, Evan grinned. He had expected Andrew to, but it still felt nice to have him confirm as much.
“You will know what your surprise is,” Evan told him almost deadpan, blinking at Andrew seriously. “On Sunday,” he added, before leaning over to tap his finger against the Sunday sheet again, where it clearly said ‘surprise’. The question of whether it’d be Disney related made Evan give another small laugh. “No,” he replied shaking his head. “Honestly, the Disney thing was mostly because I realised they have Disney World here,” Evan admitted before giving a small shrug. “Your surprise has nothing to do with Disney. Or America, really. It’s just the easiest place to do it,” he explained, sure that no such clues would give the actual surprise away.
--
“That doesn’t help at all,” Andrew complained, setting Evan’s sheets of scheduling out carefully on the top of a chest of drawers so he could contemplate them. Honestly, beyond knowing that Florida contained Disney World (and various other theme parks), Andrew had no idea what might be found there. Oranges? Old people? Even if Evan had said the surprise was something they could only do in that specific state, he’d have been none-the-wiser. He turned back to Evan, to answer his earlier question. “I’m very excited,” he assured him. If the bits of the holiday that weren’t the surprise were this good, Andrew could only suppose that the surprise itself was even better.
Reaching behind him for the Saturday sheet, Andrew looked it over again. “Are you excited for Disney?” Andrew assumed that Evan was excited for the roller-coaster part, even if the specifically Disney aspect didn’t matter to him so much. “Do you have a schedule of what rides we’re going to go on, or are we going to wing it?” Andrew didn’t really mind either, thought improvising would be far more his style than anything else.
Looking around at the hotel room, Andrew’s eyes focused on the window. The sky was blue, and though there were some clouds, it certainly looked warmer than the grey November that they’d left behind. “Shall we go explore?” Andrew asked. The room was nice, but unless they were going to have sex in it, Andrew would rather be out looking at things.
--
The confirmation that Andrew was excited made Evan grin and give a nod. “I’m very excited, too,” he confirmed truthfully. Evan wasn’t sure whether there really were many activities that only one of them would find exciting but if there were, Evan hadn’t really sought them out. Most of the things they got up to seemed really quite fun for both of them, which made all sorts of surprising throwing much easier. At the question of whether Evan had a schedule for the sort of rides he wanted to go on tomorrow, Evan blushed slightly, very much in indication that there was at least a list. “We can do whatever you want,” Evan said instead. It was, after all, Andrew’s surprise, and Evan wouldn’t want to limit them to just doing the things he thought would be fun.
Glancing at the window, Evan nodded. “Yeah,” he confirmed, taking a step closer to Andrew, reaching out to take his hand so Evan could link their fingers together as he leaned in to press a kiss against Andrew’s lips. “Today we explore and eat,” he noted, though the schedule had informed Andrew of as much. “And have sex,” Evan added seriously before grinning. “It’s scheduled, so therefore has to happen,” he told Andrew jokingly. Whilst Evan was a big fan of time-management, he was, thankfully, not actually one of those people who made a schedule and then enforced it with an iron fist.
--
Andrew caught the blush and smirked. “But you’ve done research,” he teased gently. “You know which rides are the best, and which ones are close together so we should do them at the same time and which ones are near princess photo opportunities.” Andrew had never been to Disneyland, but like many muggle children, he’d grown up watching adverts for the parks and knew, more or less, what to expect. “Is there a parade?” he asked, exaggerating his excitement at the prospect - but not by very much. He pulled Evan down onto the bed - they had to test it was comfy, after all - and kissed him. “Will there be singing?” Andrew hummed a snatch of A Whole New World against Evan’s lips before releasing him so they could both bounce back up off the bed.
“The sex is a very important part of the schedule,” Andrew agreed, making sure he had one of the key cards for the room safely in his pocket. “But we should explore first.” Otherwise, they would almost certainly forget to explore entirely, and Andrew wasn’t going to allow that to happen. “Did you bring a camera?” he asked. He hoped so, because Andrew hadn’t been able to find his while packing. Even a summoning charm hadn’t helped. “Everyone is going to hate me when I come home with pictures of China and Disney and surprises.”
--
“Of course I’ve done research,” Evan said dismissively. He had no idea how Andrew ever went places without him, really. The idea of not having researched a place before going there was so abstract to Evan that he could only presume Andrew used to wander around places aimlessly. That seemed the only logical conclusion to draw. And yes, Evan’s research had included a list of the best rides (according to reviews), the proximity to each other, the queuing times and any Disney-esque shite around them. Personally, Evan cared not for the actual Disney element of it, but he did presume that Andrew would.
Evan went easily, when Andrew pulled him onto the bed, only slightly disappointed that they weren’t to stay in it for long. “There is a parade,” Evan confirmed. It was in the schedule for tomorrow, but Evan wasn’t quite sure exactly when. At the question, Evan sighed dramatically but the smile tucking in the corners of his lips rather implied that he found Andrew’s question mostly adorable rather than in any way tiring. “There might also be singing,” he assured, giving Andrew’s lower lip a small bite before he pulled back.
“Yes,” Evan confirmed when Andrew agreed that the sex was very important in their scheduling. “So important I put it in thrice,” Evan added with a smirk. “And yes,” he confirmed with a nod. “I brought a camera. In fact, I brought two. Mine and yours,” he explained, walking back to his bag to get both out, handing Andrew his. “Your travelling experiences must’ve been devastatingly confused before I came along,” Evan commented.
--
Andrew hadn’t had a great many travelling experiences before Evan. Certainly, he’d never gone anywhere alone. It wasn’t that he couldn’t handle the solitude, but he’d always figured that if he was going out of his way to go on a holiday he might as well schedule it so that he could bring someone else along. And that ‘someone else’ had almost always been more organised than Andrew was, which wasn’t hard. Despite this reality, Andrew nodded seriously. “Devastatingly,” he agreed, eyes wide. “Where did you find my camera? I knew I used it on Halloween, but then I couldn’t remember if we used yours or mine in China. Or Aisling’s.” So many events in such a short space of time probably wasn’t helping Andrew keep on top of the organisation.
Before he let Evan pass out through the door, Andrew demanded another kiss. “I’m really glad you’re here,” he said. “And I’m here.” Because Andrew definitely wouldn’t be at Disney, with a schedule that included sex and parades and singing, unless Evan were. “This is an excellent birthday,” he said, feeling that wrapped it up more neatly. “And it’s not even my birthday yet.” With that, he made sure the door closed behind them and pulled Evan down the corridor towards the entrance. “So where shall we explore?” he asked. “Is there a pool?” Andrew’s knowledge of Disney did not extend to what the hotels were like.
--
“It was under my bed,” Evan explained as if there was nothing particularly odd about the fact that Andrew’s camera had been there. Perhaps there wasn’t, Evan didn’t know. Either way, he had got his own camera, and Andrew’s camera and made sure they had all the other things they might need. Like spare socks. Spare socks, Evan was sure, were a very important ingredient to any travelling.
Letting Andrew pull him out of the room and then down the corridor, Evan laughed. “There is a pool,” he assured. “I wouldn’t dare to take you anywhere without a pool,” he added. That wasn’t strictly true, because they had gone plenty of places without a pool, but it seemed like if you were going to go to Florida, you really should go to places that had pools. “We can go to the pool,” Evan said. “Or go find food? Are you hungry?” He asked and then paused with small frown as he tried to decide whether he was hungry. “Do you think all the food here is shaped like Disney stuff?” Evan kind of hoped it was.
--
Andrew nodded, accepting that his camera had been under Evan’s bed without finding it the least bit odd. He was sure lots of his possessions ended up under Evan’s bed for some periods of time. Particularly boxers, and t-shirts. He glanced down at the t-shirt he was wearing, which he was pretty sure belonged - if that word meant anything anymore - originally to Evan. “We should definitely go to the pool,” Andrew said, because how could they not? “But maybe not right now, because I’ll want to go in and I didn’t bring trunks.” He had some in the hotel room - Evan had provided him with a list of things to pack, some of which Andrew was now sure were red herrings - but they were unpacked in a drawer somewhere. “Maybe we’ll just wander round so we know where everything is first,” he suggested.
He did give some serious consideration to whether or not he was hungry. “No,” he decided eventually. “But I think I will be in a bit. I could use a drink.” He hadn’t, he realised, had anything to drink since before the portkey, which hadn’t been that long ago but did feel quite remote. “Do you think there’s a pool bar?” If there was, they could probably satisfy Andrew’s permanent craving for colourful drinks with cherries and umbrellas. He laughed at Evan’s question and nodded emphatically. “Yes,” he said. “Shaped like Mickey Mouse.” He remembered from the adverts, or maybe he was just inventing. “Mouse pancakes and mouse burgers and mouse eggs.” He squeezed Evan’s hand. “Anything else than can be mouse-shaped.”
--
“We can definitely just wander,” Evan confirmed. He was perfectly happy to spend however long just walking around with Andrew, because really, for as long as Andrew was there, Evan did not foresee it likely that he’d get bored. The question regarding drinks made Evan smile. “Yes, I’m sure we can get some cocktails by the pool-side,” Evan assured, quite sure he’d read Andrew’s mind accurately. The thought amused Evan enough that he pulled Andrew in closer, pressing a soft kiss against his cheek and giving a squeeze to Andrew’s had.
Mouse shaped pancakes, Evan felt, he was happy with. Mouse burgers and mouse eggs, though, he was more dubious about. “I hope it’s not just mice,” he said thoughtfully. “Donald Duck is Disney, no? I feel a duck egg is much more appetising than a mouse egg,” Evan commented. “Though,” he added with a pause. “Any type of pancakes sound great,” which was very true. Maybe they could start their food adventure with pancakes. First, though, a drink adventure! “I wonder if the glasses and bottles for drinks are mouse shaped, too,” Evan said ponderingly, leading them towards the lifts so they could go and discover the mouse shaped world of Disney hotels.
