WHO: Open to All! WHEN: Friday, October 28, all night long WHERE: The Panquake House WHAT: Halloween party! RATING: Keep it below NC-17!
Ken loved Halloween more than any other holiday, and it showed in how much effort he put into his annual party. Of course, the bands' bedrooms were magically sealed off from the guests, but every other room of the house, as well as the entire yard, was decorated to the hilt. Outside, pumpkins of various sizes, carved into interesting faces and designs, littered the lawn; there was a scarecrow at the beginning of the walk greeting guests, magically animated with a few different phrases.
Inside, everything was lit with candles, dripping fake blood instead of wax. Ken had put all the dogs, in their adorable costumes, into one room, so people who wanted to play with them could, and people with allergies or fears could avoid them. Music played on the radio in the living room, food and drinks were available in the kitchen, and all things considered, it was just a social occasion...as long as you didn't go into the basement.
Down there, the candles burned with an eerie green light, and the entire warren of rooms had been transformed into a haunted house. Screams rang out, footsteps followed those who ventured downstairs, doors creaked, the walls whispered. Phrases appeared in blood on the walls, and in some of the rooms, actors played out nightmarish scenes of horror. All things considered, Ken was pretty proud of the whole thing - and of course, he'd hired a handful of security guards to make sure nobody died of alcohol poisoning or cardiac arrest, broke anything, or took advantage of being invited into a band's home to harass them.
