max // oliver
Someone was going to have to save Oliver from this conversation because he certainly was not going to back down from it. Even if Max definitely was much smarter and certainly more clever in how he used his words than Oliver. The problem was that Oliver was a Gryffindor, and one who felt he had to defend the choices he made. Unfortunately for Oliver, he wasn't always the best at knowing how to do that. The one saving grace Oliver did have was the fact that actually he had read the information Equal Play had provided him with and thus did actually know what the charity was campaigning to do. Even if it was unlikely to impress Max, but then, Oliver was quickly starting to think that there was very little out there that did.
"The money Equal Play raises by majority is used in training and educational resources. Part of it goes into research, but there a lot that goes to events and partnership programs in which they encourage youths, especially LGBT youths, but also community in general, to join together, build teams. It promotes inclusion and does talks in schools across the world," Oliver said, mostly probably sounding like the booklet he had read, but it certainly explained it better than Oliver could in his own words. "I don't think it's just about quidditch," he added. "I mean, I represent quidditch, but that's because I know how to do that. Equal Play stretches across different sports," which it did and Oliver was pretty sure it covered Muggle sports too but he doubted Max cared. In fact, Oliver was unsure the other man cared much for this conversation at all.
Finishing off his drink, Oliver reached to make a new one because he felt he could probably use one. "I'm not really sure what you expect me to say, Max," Oliver offered honestly. "Because it mostly seems like you just want me to feel bad, which, if that is your aim, congrats, you're quite successful," he said with a shrug. It was true and Oliver really had zero objections to stating as much.
