Who: Bethanie Dustan and Laurel Fawley.
What: A surprise!
Where: Nash Point Lighthouse
When: Saturday 15th October, afternoon. {Backdated}
Bethanie's birthday had been a little more draining than she'd admitted in her journal. She'd spent half her long weekend with her parents, who made a great show of allowing her to pick exactly what she wanted to do and then subtly overrode all her decisions. The worst of it was, she hadn't even realised what was going on as it was happening, so there was no way she could stand up for herself. They'd even had opinions on what she should buy with the gift voucher she'd bought them - given which, Bethanie didn't understand why they hadn't picked out her present to begin with. On the other hand, her birthday had gone much better than that dream she'd had, so she tried to tell herself she should be grateful.
What she was more grateful for, though, was the colleague who'd mentioned Nash Point Lighthouse and how you could actually go up to the top to look at the lantern and a guide would tell you all about the history of the building, and of lighthouses in general. It had interested Bethanie anyway, but knowing Laurel was writing about one had been the impetus to actually book a tour and go. Bethanie had apparated the two of them a little way away from Nash Point, and had refused to tell Laurel where they were going.
The flat landscape all around made it impossible to hide their destination - there was nothing else within walking distance they could possibly be heading for, but Bethanie did her best to ignore that as she carried on the conversation they'd started before appearing. "I haven't written anything in it yet," she said, referring to the rainbow notebook she'd bought with her birthday money. "It's so pretty that I don't want to start something I won't finish, you know?"
