Who: Ron Weasley and Lavender Brown.
What: Romantic birthday dinner.
Where: Lav's house, then a nice restaurant.
When: Saturday 1st October, evening.

Having Lav back in his life had made a huge difference to Ron. As often as they arranged to see each other, he had something to look forward to, and Lavender had always had that special trick of making Ron feel as if his own small accomplishments were just as special as the fact that Charlie trained dragons or Ginny played professional quidditch. So Ron had wanted to do something really special for Lav's birthday, to show her how glad he was to have her back. He'd made her a jewellery box, and charmed it with Fred's help, and then he'd borrowed a little money here and there to be able to take Lavender out somewhere really nice.

Dressed the occasion, Ron apparated over and knocked on Lav's door. He'd seen her the day before, at her party, but he hadn't wanted to present his gift in front of everyone else, in case it all went wrong, so he'd saved it. Even with his hands full of inexpertly-wrapped present, Ron moved in to kiss Lavender the minute she opened the door, as if he hadn't only left her that morning. "Hey," he said, pulling back so he wouldn't jab her in the stomach with her gift. "You should probably take this inside before you open it." He really, really hoped the box wasn't going to scream again the moment Lavender laid hands on it, but there was really no way to test it until she did.

Once they were inside, with the door firmly closed, Ron handed her the box. "I made it myself," he added. The whole point was that he'd wanted to impress Lav, so he was hardly going to hide the fact. She'd liked the bird he made her, so he could only hope she would like this too.

She had loved her party the night before...who didn't love a birthday party in their own honor after all? And having Ron with her - well it seemed to be just the thing to make it a perfect evening. And when he had asked to take her out for a special evening - it had been perfectly perfect. She enjoyed his company and how how warm and safe she felt with him. How he could make her feel special and cared for in a way that no one else really ever had.

Opening the door she kissed him back and grinned at him as she let him into the flat, "Come on in..." She took the package and her heart melted a bit. He had taken the time to both make her something and wrap it up for her. All in all - she was feeling rather special.

"Oh Ron I love what you make for me..." She set it on the counter to take her time opening the gift and she let out a soft gasp of pleasure at the sight of the box. She ran her fingers over the wood lightly and opened it carefully.

"Oh Ron I love it!" She kissed him softly and wrapped her arms around him, "Thank you so much love. Just thank you so much for it. It's gorgeous."

Ron exhaled a sigh of relief when the box remained silent, and was careful to keep his own hands away from it as Lavender pulled him close to wrap her arms around him. "It's yours now," he said, grateful Fred had told him how the spells worked so that he could explain it properly. "If anyone else tries to open the box, it should scream, so no one can steal anything from you." Granted, there probably wasn't much reason to be afraid that anyone would try, because Lav lived with her best friend and presumably had wards on the external doors, but Ron hadn't really been able to think of any other special charms to use.

"I'm glad you like it," he said, kissing her again. "You're welcome." They had a little time before their reservations - which Ron had actually remembered to make in time to book his first choice restaurant. "I wish I could buy you some jewellery to put in it." Ron had always been more able to talk about his frustrated ambitions with Lavender with anyone else. Where he'd usually be ashamed to admit he couldn't afford all the gifts he wanted, to Lavender he could just be honest. "But I'd probably get the wrong kind of thing anyway, so this is better."

He checked his watch, then reached out for Lav's hand. "You want to apparate or take the floo?"
