WHAT: Draco has a 'present' for Lottie...
RATING: medium - brief talk of nudity and sexy times
STATUS: Completed in Docs
Given how often Lottie came over, since this was the one place where they were guaranteed privacy, it had slowly been occurring to Draco that he needed to do something so Lottie didn't have to keep knocking to be let in. So he'd found an old key somewhere at the manor, after having ensured it wasn't actually needed, Draco organised for it to be bespelled. Essentially it would work both as an ordinary key to unlock the door to the flat but it would also unlock the wards; or rather it would allow for Lottie to safely get through the wards even if he didn't happen to be at home. Though, of course, not long after having been first given the flat he'd had Lottie added to the wards anyway; however, that allowance was only if he was actually at home. With the key she'd be able to come and go as she pleased, even able to apparate directly to the flat, provided she had the key on her person.
The only issue he had found, after having the key in his possession for nearly a month now, was in actually giving it to Lottie. Because how did you give your girlfriend a key to your flat without it looking like you were asking her to move in? Although there were rooms to spare if she were to move in but wanted her own space. It was entirely possible he was considering the 'what ifs' too much. Well, he'd asked her over not too long ago so hopefully Lottie would be there soon before he continued his previous train of thought.
Thankfully he was saved by somebody, hopefully Lottie, knocking at the door. Hopping up from the sofa he went and answered the door; fortunately it was Lottie and so he didn't have to be rude, by default, when he looked disappointed if it hadn't been. "Hey," he greeted, brushing a kiss across her lips before stepping aside to let her in. "Thanks for coming over at short notice."
--
Lottie had no idea what Draco needed, but she was happy to head to his flat after her meeting with a new client. She would have prefered to change into something more comfortable, but the cherry dress would have to do. When Draco answered the door and instantly gave her a kiss, she smiled up at him. "By that kiss, I don't think you've asked me here to give me a taste of my own medicine," she teased as she walked past him. Once she was in, and the door was closed, Lottie turned an earnest look on Draco, pinning him a little between her and the wall. "You're not, right?"
She felt she deserved him teasing her for nearly breaking up with him. Popping up on her toes, she rest her hands on Draco's shoulders and kissed him again, letting her lips linger on his for several heartbeats. "Hi. How are you, darling?"
--
Draco chuckled. "No, that's definitely not the reason," he said reassuringly. Being vindictive wasn't in his nature, and though he wasn't above teasing he didn't think it was right to tease her in that way. "Promise."
As Lottie kissed him his hand went to the small of her back holding her close. "I'm doing alright," he replied. "And you, love?"
After she'd replied he directed her over to the sofa, while he quickly went to the bench to grab the rather small gift box, before returning and sitting beside her. It might seem a bit over the top giving her the key this way but it was far less abrupt than just handing her some old key. "Actually the reason I asked you over is because I sort of have a gift for you," he explained, passing the box to her as he did.
--
She bumped his nose with hers before stepping back, smiling. "I'm a little tired, but very well. I had an early meeting with a new client, but I was happy to get your owl." She followed him to the sofa and leaned into him a bit when they sat.
She took the box from him, her heart thumping a little. It wasn't shaped like a ring box, but it was small, and the right cushion could make even the smallest item fit. Despite the initial jolt of panic, Lottie's more logical mind kicked in and assured her that Draco, who did love her, wouldn't give her a ring until he was sure she was ready. So her smile softened, and she carefully took the lid off.
It was a key, and that meant more to her than she would have ever thought. He trusted her. She knew he loved her, but he trusted her with his privacy and his secrets and his safety. That's what the key said. It spoke volumes to Lottie. Draco had told her about his secret life as a romance novelist, but this? This meant that he trusted her almost completely.
Everything in Charlotte's mind seemed to settle, and she shifted, holding the key against her heart, so she was facing him. With her empty hand, she turned Draco's face towards hers and kissed him briefly. "I would give a key in return, but I need to talk to Celia."
--
When he caught that fleeting look of panic he couldn't help but worry a little but then he noticed the smile and stopped worrying. He was a smart man but it honestly hadn't occurred to him, at the time, that there was a very specific something that came in small boxes. If or when the day came, and he knew for certain Lottie was ready, he liked to think he'd be do it with a bit more style and romance.
"It's fine, I wasn't expecting to be given one in return," he responded, smiling and covering her free hand with his. "Though I'm glad you understand what the key is. I was worried I was going to have to try and explain it wasn't my strange way of asking you to move in. Not that I wouldn't want you to but that's a big step that probably requires talking about first…"
--
She nodded in agreement. Moving in together would be a big step, and she'd need to make sure her sister was taken care of before she could even consider that. Though, now that she was a professional Quidditch player like their brothers, she would be able to afford her own place soon enough. That thought made Lottie a little sad, and she leaned against Draco's shoulder to hide her face. She didn't want him to think she was sad about the key.
Because the key, and what it represented, made her very happy. Without worrying about how he'd react. Without thinking of the what ifs and the things that could go wrong, Lottie twined her fingers through Draco's. "I love you," she whispered, not lifting her head.
--
Briefly he wondered why she'd decided to lean against him but he wasn't going to question it if it meant having Lottie close to him. And then… well… for something like a nano-second, as he was rubbing his thumb against the back of her hand, Draco almost wasn't sure he'd heard right. As unexpected as it was to hear he knew he had heard the whispered words correctly. It was almost strange how happy he felt, not at finally hearing those three words, but just that feeling of... contentment at really knowing they both felt the same about the other.
"I love you too," he murmured, a quiet smile on his face, before placing a kiss to the top of her head.
--
"Oh, good," she replied with a laugh. "I was worried that you'd change your mind once I got around to knowing it." She tried to say that seriously, but she couldn't keep the smile from her face or the mirth from her eyes as she leaned back and looked up at Draco. "Before you ask why now, it's because I have issues with trust. Not trusting you. I trust you implicitly. I just don't trust myself. But you do." She held the key out, resting her open hand on his thigh. "This key tells me that. And knowing that you trust me in this way.."
Lottie trailed off with a small shrug and met Draco's gaze. "I love you, and now that I've said it, I know I have for some time." She stood up and pushed him into the back of the sofa, making him get comfortable before she straddled his lap and sat on his thighs facing him. "I love you." She kissed him briefly. "You'll let me know if telling you becomes annoying."
--
"No such luck," he said with a chuckle. Draco was probably biased but he just loved the way her whole face just seemed to light up when she smiled like that. "Actually I was pretty okay with not asking about it at all," he commented, as he brushed her hair back.
"Well, I can't deny that I'm glad to hear that," he responded. Draco was certain by now he probably had a ridiculously happy smile on his face. Given how often they were like this he probably shouldn't have felt as surprised as he had when Lottie had stood up; his hands automatically going to her hips. After kissing her back he looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "Hmm, getting annoyed because an amazing woman keeps telling me she loves me?" he questioned, not being entirely serious as evident by the smile teasing at the corner of his lips. "Yeah, I just don't think that'll be happening."
--
"Oh, good," she repeated before she all but collapsed forward, resting against his shoulder. She nuzzled the side of his throat, content to stay there all day, despite the lack of cozy clothes. "Do you have to work?" She suddenly wondered if he wanted to do this right away rather than wait because he wanted it done before his shift.
Which was terrible planning on his part, because now all she wanted to do was cuddle, and if she'd reacted by taking him to bed, he would be very late. "My appointments are done for the day. What about you?"
--
Apparently he'd managed to lose focus fairly quickly as his fingers which had been tracing up along her side had stilled at the question. "I've got some notes I need to catch up on later but I don't need to go in for that," he answered.
"So..." he drawled. His eyes travelled slowly to her face as he licked his lower lip, catching it between his teeth. "I'm entirely yours for the day."
--
Lottie's breath hitched at that look, and she pushed back so she was upright. Her eyebrows rose, and she slowly ran her tongue over her top teeth. "I was thinking innocent, sweet thoughts until that look, love. Now you've got me thinking of the slow ways I can make you moan."
She kissed him slowly, letting her hands fall to his hips as she pressed into him. "What devious things were you thinking?" Her mouth was less than an inch from his. She could smell his toothpaste and the soap he used in the shower and him. "I'll say yes to whatever it was."
--
Draco let out a short laugh. "Sweet and innocent, hmm?" he asked teasingly. "If your thoughts were so easily turned I wonder just how innocent they were to start with."
As he was kissing her, with one hand was pressed in against the small of her back, the other was lazily making its way up her back until he reached the zipper which his fingers started toying with. "I hadn't really been thinking of anything in particular," he said, before stealing a long slow kiss while he started slowly pulling the zipper down. "Though now… well, I can't help but wonder just how long I can slowly kiss and give you the barest of touches before you start begging for more."
--
"After that look," she asked breathlessly, wiggling against him. "Not long." Charlotte smiled at Draco, light shivers running through her as the skin of her back was exposed to the air. "But I want to go slow. I want to take our time, and make love with the knowledge that we are in love." She looked down at her very attractive boyfriend and felt a stirring in her lower regions. "Well, as slow as possible," she amended as she casually undid his buttons.
When more of his chest was revealed, Lottie leaned down and trailed kisses from the pulse below his jaw to where she could feel his heart beat in his chest. She slid off his lap and stood in front of him, offering him a hand up. "While enjoy being on top, I think we need the room your bed gives us."
--
Draco caught his lower lip between his teeth as he groaned when Lottie wiggled on his lap. Merlin, it was almost unfair that he could react so easily to so simple a movement. "Then we'll take it slow," he murmured. He lightly ran his fingertips up along her spine. "And I'll show how much I love you."
His breathing slowed and he had his eyes closed as she trailed kisses down from his jaw to his chest - though he was sure his heart was probably going a mile a minute. He opened his eyes when he felt her pull away and stand up. Draco was chuckling as he took her hand and stood up. "It'll be more comfortable as well."
He led her down the hall to his room at the end, and once there had spun her round so that they were facing each other. With one hand cupped the back of her head, fingers entwining in her hair, and the other once again at the small of her back, he leaned down to capture her mouth in a deep kiss.
--
Charlotte lost herself in that kiss, and lost track of what she'd been planning before Draco stole her breath. She was up on her toes, her arms wrapped around his middle for balance and to keep him close. She shivered with anticipation as the air brushed the exposed skin of her back. Almost reluctantly, she lowered herself from her toes, breaking the kiss. She was panting from lack of breath, and her lips tingled, telling her they were slightly bruised.
She pushed Draco back a bit, giving them each enough space to undress. She had never been shy about her body with him, and she certainly wasn't now. Despite her growing urgency to be with him, Lottie took her time undressing, laying her clothes out carefully so they wouldn't wrinkle, though she kicked her shoes in whatever direction as soon as they were unclasped. She watched him undress as she removed her own clothes then led him to the bed.
"Me first," she whispered, pushing him down into the mattress with a kiss. She knew he would see to her pleasure, but she had time to make up for. Lottie knew it wasn't a competition, that it wasn't about who owed whom. She and Draco worked very well as a team. Still, she owed him so much for his patience with her, and she would take her time showing how much she appreciated and loved him.
