"It will be," Cedric assured her, pulling out her chair and waiting until she was settled before he claimed the one opposite. The restaurant wasn't too noisy, and the people who were seated around them already had food, all of which Cedric could've happily wolfed down. "If you tell me anything you can't eat, I can help you avoid it." The menu had pretty clear descriptions, but of course there was an advantage in having actually eaten the food before. "How do you feel about spicy food?" Cedric liked it, and several of his favourite starters were spiced in some way or other. Still, if Mary-Anne didn't then Cedric would be the gentleman and choose milder things so that they could share. "Oh, and do we want wine?" The waiter had left them with the menus, so they had time to make all the important decisions.
Looking a little abashed, Cedric smiled across the table. "How's your month been?" he asked. "I'm sorry it's been so long. My mum says it's normal, for the first year, to have no idea how much time is passing." He shrugged, because he really couldn't offer any excuse other than that. It wasn't that he wasn't interested, or that Mary-Anne had slipped his mind. It was just that he kept putting off making a date until 'tomorrow', until there'd been a lot more days behind him than he'd realised. "Have you got up to anything exciting?"
