Higgs couldn't help but give a small laugh when Fred offered his condolences for everything being a clusterfuck. It seemed like a reasonably appropriate word to use for the situation. In a way, Higgs felt that maybe they were nearing the end of it all. Him and Alicia would be officially over once the divorce papers were signed, George was now happily with Lydia. It seemed like a curtain drawn kind of situation. Except the curtain was torn up and there was maybe fire on the stage. Still, it probably would get better. Higgs couldn't imagine it not doing so, hell, that had been the reason why he had asked Alicia for a divorce.
"I hope things better for everyone involved," Higgs said truthfully. He still didn't know how Alicia was coping, past 'badly', but Higgs also had very intentionally not asked Ashleigh. Making himself feel even worse about the whole thing was hardly going to be a productive way to deal with it. "The shop's doing well, then?" Higgs asked very intentionally changing the topic. "I always see people going in and out when I walk past. Looks busy," which, obviously, didn't mean they bought things, but Higgs assumed the constant presence of customers did most likely indicate a successful business.
