Higgs had no idea what about chocolate and hazelnut was appropriate for hedgehogs on brooms but he had no intention of questioning it. "Your cakes are my favourite," he told Gladys instead, not a word of lie. Higgs was sure that they were both aware that Gladys did not bake excellently, but Higgs really would have chosen her cakes over most others. He suspected that perhaps he had been brainwashed into enjoying badly made cakes. Still, her decorating skills were excellent. "I look forward to it," he nodded because Higgs honestly did.
"I don't think she objects to our pets," Higgs replied somewhat amused. Pippa, he thought, might have preferred if they didn't have any pets at all, but seeing how that had never been an option, Higgs reckoned she did alright.
Once they began walking again, Higgs gave a lick to his ice cream, making a satisfied noise when the coconut flavour came through strongly. It was very good ice cream. "I'm sure she'll be great," Higgs nodded before giving a small shrug. "I guess, I don't really know what to expect. I hadn't ever really planned to get divorced," which was perhaps a stupid statement, because who ever did expect to get divorced.
