The idea of singing Happy Birthday in Welsh together with a parrot was so ridiculous that Higgs felt it was also a little amazing. "Oh," he said slowly when Gladys asked what sort of decoration he'd like on his cake. It was ages away until his birthday but Higgs had always loved the way Gladys decorated birthday cakes when he was a kid. She was very talented. And truth be told, Higgs also absolutely adored her cakes. Not because they were delicious cakes, they really weren't, but because they reminded him of his childhood. She had always made rather bad cakes, so the nostalgic value they held to Higgs far extended one a well made cake might hold. "Can you make one that looks like a fat hedgehog playing Quidditch?" Higgs asked amused. He did go to a great length to tease his sister.
"No," Higgs shook his head when Gladys asked about Pippa. "I think she worries about not being a good pet owner," he said honestly. "Which she shouldn't, Pippa's rather great at most things she puts her mind to," Higgs added. As far as he was concerned it was true. Pippa had always been the brightest of them all, the most talented in many respects apart from Quidditch. Probably also the most closed off, though. He was still working on convincing her she should get a cat. "But you do get to meet Fi and Pushkin and the house is really nice, I think you'll like it," Higgs told Gladys with a smile. He really was very proud of how the house had come together in the end.
Higgs did wish to object but knew it would be futile. "I guess you do earn more than me," he told Gladys teasingly. "I'll have to coconut and chocolate one, please, nan, if I may?" Higgs replied doing a very good impression of the sort of polite yet whiny voice he used to employ as a small child. "Thank you," he offered once they were served with ice cream. "Both for this," there he gave a little wave with his ice cream. "And for the recommendation. I really have no real idea where one starts with a divorce." Not really a surprising statement since Higgs had never gone through a divorce.
