"Of course I did," Gladys said as she selected one of her many brightly-patterned gauzy scarves to wear. It would have been nice to have some company for the game, but Gladys could hardly blame Terence if he preferred to go and watch it in person. Perhaps next time she'd drop in on Gemma's parents and watch it with them. Or buy tickets and invite someone to go along with her, that would be nice too. Once she'd closed and locked the door behind them, she took Terence's arm as they walked down towards the glittering ocean. She didn't need the support physically, but it was pleasant to walk with someone.
She grinned at his question. "Oh, they're wonderful. I had no idea so many people were using them." She gave Terence a mock glare. "My grandchildren included. And yet you've never mentioned them." At least, Gladys couldn't remember Terence doing so, certainly not as something that she would be able to pick up. "It's almost as if you're afraid I'll embarrass you." She smiled sweetly at him, eyes twinkling. Honestly, she didn't believe her grandchildren were embarrassed, though she supposed some people would think they could be, given her profession.
"But how are you?" she asked, more interested in Terence than her own life - which, after all, muddled along pleasantly enough in recent years. "Your father told me about Alicia, but he didn't know whether you'd want to talk about it." If Terence didn't that was fine, Gladys could talk for Wales, but she was at least going to offer him the opportunity.
