Who: Bethanie Dunstan and Laurel Fawley. What: Sing-along Dirty Dancing. Where: Probably the Prince Charles Cinema, London. When: Saturday 10th September, evening.
After learning that Laurel was going to dress up as Baby, Bethanie had been thrown into a storm of indecision. She hadn't seen Dirty Dancing in years, but as far as she could remember there wasn't a single character who was bigger than a size 8 in the entire film. Though she did her best to project an air of confidence with her wardrobe, Bethanie knew she wasn't really going to be able to pull off anythingelseBaby'swardrobe. She considered dressing as one of the hotel's older guests, but something in her rebelled at the idea of deliberately making herself unattractive. She didn't know why it mattered, it wasn't as if this was a date.
Finally, after a trip to the library and twenty minutes on google image search, Bethanie hit on the perfect thing. Of course, Laurel wouldn't get it, until they watched the film, but when she did it would hopefully make her smile. Bethanie ordered a few things to be delivered to her address - grateful for once that she lived in a muggle area - and waited impatiently for them to arrive.
They'd agreed to arrive early for the film, so they could have a drink and look at everyone else's costumes, but Bethanie arrived early even considering that. She watched people as they arrived, mosly dressed as Baby or Patrick Swayze's character, or Baby's sister. No one apart from Bethanie was dressed as that other iconic feature of the film - the watermelon. Bethanie thought her skirt was adorable, and fully intended to wear it again, even when she wasn't trying to dress up as fruit. After five minutes or so, she spotted Laurel approaching and rushed over.
"Hi." She paused, teeth catching on her lower lip slightly. "You look beautiful." Laurel didn't really look like Baby, she was too dark, but she did look gorgeous.
