Higgs paused in taking another sip of his coffee when Ashleigh explained that she would like to change her job. And then that the question had been prompted by a dream. This was now the second time in as many days that Higgs had heard someone reference a dream. He wasn't quite sure what to make of that, so instead he took a drink, before putting the cup down carefully. "No one wants to work at the Ministry forever, bar the very few," Higgs commented honestly. There were, of course, those who loved paperwork, but Higgs couldn't imagine them to be in a majority. "I know you like interior design," he added because Higgs really did. No one went through as many redesigns of their flat without liking interior design.
"I guess," he continued with a small shrug. "I just can't see you quitting for it?" There wasn't a flattering way to say it, Higgs didn't reckon. He did think over what to say carefully, though. "You're very smart, Ashleigh, and incredibly capable, but what you also are is too sensible for your own good," Higgs informed her. "And not a risk taker," he added truthfully. As far as Higgs could tell, Ashleigh had never taken a risk in her life. He'd never questioned why, rather choosing to accept that that was simply how Ashleigh was. This, now, made him wonder if he should have been more supportive. Except Higgs wasn't sure how he would go about that. "When's 'one day'?" Higgs asked finally.
