Evan took in the sight of his son for just a brief moment. He looked grown up and it filled him with a strange sort of pride that he didn't feel often. He'd never given his son a reason to fear being home, but his expectations had always been relatively high. He almost couldn't blame the boy when he seemed to change his tune and cower the second Evan spoke to him.
He shook his head at Theseus' question and pushed himself upright so he could properly welcome Theseus inside. Once the last house elf disappeared with the last heavy bag, Evan clapped a hand on his son's shoulder. "I thought we might have a chat with something better than tea," he told him. "Join me in the study."
It was rare for Evan to invite anyone into the study, let alone Theseus. When he was younger, Evan wouldn't let the boy so much as touch the door. Even as a teen, Theseus was only allowed in on rare occasions. Now Evan was inviting him in for a talk. Without waiting for an answer, Evan made his way back into the study. Whether Theseus joined him or not was up to him, but he'd probably be disappointed if he didn't.
