It wasn't unusual to find Evan in his study. When left to his own devices, he could easily spend all day with his nose in a book, ignoring the rest of the world. However, it was a rare occurrence to find Evan in his study with the door open. A minor change, but he knew that his son would be arriving. Putting all paternal feelings aside, it was rude not to greet him at the door when he arrived. Truth be told, though, he was somewhat excited to see Theseus. It had been a long time and he wanted to find out how his studies had gone. Well, it seemed, if he had a restaurant opening so soon. The food did look good, though Evan certainly hadn't told him that. Evan understood that he wasn't the most affectionate father, nor did he praise his son as much as he probably deserved it, but Theseus was doing well for himself and seemed to be enjoying his life thus far. He hadn't taken all the money Evan had given him and spent it all frivolously. That was a plus, at least.
When he heard someone at the door, Evan snapped his book shut and stood. He brushed his robes down slightly before wandering out toward the front of the house. Luckily, he caught Theseus right as he was walking in the door. As the house elves made themselves busy with his luggage, Evan put his hands in his pockets and leaned against the door frame of the library. A small smile spread across his face. A rare one, that much was certain, but he was genuinely pleased to see his son.
"Welcome home," he said, pushing himself upright and walking toward his son.
