Eva tugged hard on her mother's hand to try to get free, but Laurel was prepared and she held on. It was just too crowded to let the girl loose. Eva cast a disgruntled look up, but soon was wrapped up in meeting a new, older friend. She waved with her free hand. "My name is Evangeline," she said in her best manners-voice with a little curtsy, just like she'd been taught to do when meeting new people.
Laurel gave her daughter's hand a gentle squeeze and a nod of encouragement before turning her attention back to the other girl's father. Her hand settled back on the handle of the pram and pulled it back close to her. Marie was still asleep, curled up under her favorite blanket. Oh, how Laurel envied her.
"Maybe?" She tilted her head a bit at the man. "I'm sure we've probably seen each other, it's a rather small world we live in."
