"I appreciate that," Higgs told Lydia honestly. He did. Sure, they hadn't known each other for long, certainly nowhere near as long as Higgs had known Pippa and Marcus, or even as long as he had known Alicia, but he did care a great deal for Lydia. She had been an easy friend to make, always happy to be there to support him if he needed to and that meant a lot to Higgs. He hoped that she felt similarly about his friendship. Higgs was aware that right now he probably didn't make the greatest of friends, but that didn't mean he didn't want to at least try. "You're a good friend, Lydia," he said truthfully since Lydia really was. Higgs was very glad to have made friends with her, even if he didn't particularly want to burden her with his troubles.
Truth was that Higgs probably would end up needing to talk to her at some point. He was being hopeful that all the things he needed to sort out would mostly be in his head and with himself, but Higgs was aware he might still need support. The point of being honest with his closest friends had been that he could spread the effort out. Not burden anyone. And as much as Higgs wasn't really clear on his plan for getting better, Lydia did feature in it. "I will surely accept all the pies," he confirmed with a small smirk, because Higgs might have been really quite a nice man, but he was really quite a nice man who had been sorted into Slytherin. "Are you sure you might be able to fill a silence, Lydia?" He teased. "It won't be too straining?"
