Higgs supposed that Lydia was partially right in that Higgs was distancing himself from Alicia. He didn't think he was distancing himself from all the people he was close to. He'd gone to Belize to see Pippa, he'd made sure to apologise to Marcus and Gemma, he'd gotten in touch with Lydia and Ashleigh. That wasn't him distancing himself, even if asking Alicia for divorce had most likely been exactly that. Still, Higgs felt he had done the right thing, no matter what Lydia's opinion on it was. Higgs was certainly many things, but one of those things was headstrong and once he made a decision it was almost impossible to ever talk him out of it. And he didn't particularly care to let her try, so he only ate some more bread and soup rather than responding to her comment.
Lydia's demand to know what Higgs was doing to help himself startled a laugh out of him, just because of how direct the question was. Higgs felt it a fair question, because he did need to do things, make sure he was getting better, but the blunt way in which Lydia asked it made him laugh. But before he could answer, Lydia was talking again (which, in itself, was not surprising at all), bringing up the alternative universe and--oh. There was something that settled heavily at the bottom of Higgs' stomach as she brought up an explosion, him being in hospital, him not being himself. "Maybe," Higgs offered because he couldn't actually say for sure that it was the same, not with having no memories at all from this other universe that Lydia spoke of. Chances of the situation being similar were sadly high, though. The idea of getting help and doing better, at least that was a positive.
After a moment's pause, in which Higgs mostly looked off in the distance as his soup cooled, Higgs shook his head. "I've contacted the army," he said finally looking back at Lydia. "To see what support groups they have near by," he explained. It was a start, Higgs felt. Going through the organisational parts of getting help was definitely something he was capable of doing. "I'm going to ask Pippa if she'll come with me," he added truthfully, before giving a small smile. "Hold my hand and all," Higgs joked. Sort of. He was sure Pippa would hold his hand if he asked nicely enough.
