If Ric wanted him to have a ring, that was just fine by Toby. He didn't have to have it that very second, of course. "Then we can get me a ring," he told him, shrugging his shoulder. "Does that mean you're saying yes? I mean, I suppose I should actually ask you if you want to marry me. Not that we can legally, but you know, symbolism and all that. Would you marry me?" He was rambling which was so very unlike him where Ric was concerned. He never felt nervous around his boyfriend, but this was changing their dynamic from boyfriends to fiances and it was a step that had been a long time coming and was very important to Toby even if he couldn't follow through completely with it at the present moment in time.
"I think after ten years that people are pretty sure I'm off the market," he told him with a little smile.
He watched as he examined the ring, grinning a little broader as he tried to figure out what it was made out of all while talking about how he shouldn't think about them not being together. He supposed that was plenty close enough to a yes. "Meteorite," he told him. "Which, I guess, makes all of that up there a little more... romantic. Or something. I don't know. You like space and science and I wanted it to be unique and special. Like you are to me."
