Who: Ashleigh Spinnet and Laurel Fawley.
What: Coffee.
Where: Coffee shop, Diagon Alley.
When: Friday 12th August, 5.30pm.
It had been a very, very long week. Ashleigh had expected as much, of course. Returning to a job she found unbearably boring from a week of museums and Aisling and ballet was bound to be an unpleasant experience. Perhaps some people would have shied away from scheduling a meeting with their boyfriend's sister at the end of such a week - but Ashleigh didn't allow herself such indulgences. This meeting was overdue, and she would not put it off another week. The first time, the notice had been to short and Ashleigh hadn't wanted to cancel her dance class - not to mention, she'd not relished the idea of trying to eat in front of five other people. Then, of course, she'd been in France. There had been nothing she could do about that.
Having agreed to meet Laurel at half past, Ashleigh had thirty minutes to make sure she was presentable before she walked the short distance to the coffee shop. She hadn't brought spare clothes, because it was only coffee, so she arrived looking neat but staid in her unadorned black work robes, with her hair smoothed into an immaculate bun. As far as she could recall, she had never seen Laurel - certainly not since she was tiny - but the only other customers at that hour were an elderly couple, neither of whom could possibly be Axel's younger sister. Having arrived a few minutes early, Ashleigh ordered herself a coffee, left enough sickles with the employee to cover Laurel's when she arrived, and then took a seat near the window to wait.
