Who: Aisling Astor and Ashleigh Spinnet.
What: Ashleigh joins Aisling on the beach.
When: Friday 5th August, afternoon.
Where: Beach, St-Tropez.
Rating: PG.
As Aisling had predicted, Ashleigh had been perfectly happy to explore a museum while Aisling and Xavier did nothing very much on the beach. Ashleigh liked museums, and the museum she'd chosen to visit was particularly unusual. Walking around it did leave her with a lot of time to think, especially as she tried to push away the mild anxiety about Higgs and what, exactly, had been so urgent that he needed to rush off without explanations. Not thinking about Higgs meant she had to think about something else and, in the moments where French military history wasn't quite sufficient (or Ashleigh's French-languages skills proved too poor), her mind turned to Aisling and Xavier.
Ashleigh wasn't in the habit of comparing her relationship with Axel to those of other people. She knew that she was different, and she knew that as long as Axel made her happy that was all that mattered. But Aisling had missed Xavier, even their first night in France. Missed him so much that she'd sent a poor owl back and forth to Scotland over twenty times. Missed him so much that she'd invited him to visit, even though they were due to return in two days. Ashleigh, in contrast, had missed Axel enough to send him a postcard, and to reply to his journal in the evening when she got back from her excursion.
So, in a way, she was quite glad to finally pay off her promise to spend time on the beach with Aisling. At least it would help her to stop thinking so much. She arrived in her bikini and a cover-all, with a bag that contained everything she could possibly need - and more. "Did you have a nice morning?" she asked, settling herself on a chair beside Aisling.
