Laurel's gasp was exactly what Bethanie had been hoping for, and she couldn't help grinning widely as Laurel turned to look at her. "Isn't it amazing?" she asked. Obviously, films in colour were very familiar to Bethanie, and had been before she'd seen The Wizard of Oz for the first time, but there was still something brilliant about the transition. It was the sort of thing that could only really be done (or at least, made famous) once, because if it was copied it lose its element of surprise.
"The witch is coming up," she added, curious to see how Laurel would take the portrayal of the Wicked Witch, hoping she wouldn't be offended. Of course, Glinda was a witch too, and a good one, though very different from the traditional muggle idea of one. After that, the film seemed to speed by, and Bethanie lost herself in it almost as much as Laurel did. It really had been a long time since she'd seen it.
Once Dorothy was back in Kansas, Bethanie lowered the volume as the credits rolled. "Well, that's the end," she said.
