Smiling, Bethanie turned the television on and started the DVD. It had been a long time since she'd watched The Wizard of Oz, and though she remembered the general outline of the plot, and some specific scenes, she couldn't remember exactly what the opening scene would be. She did, however, remember the roaring lion in the MGM logo, and she laughed when it appeared. "I used to be so scared of that lion," she admitted. "I had to cover my ears." Now, it seemed a lot less frightening. Part of growing up, she supposed.
Bethanie knew it could be annoying to have someone watch you watch something, so she tried not to, focusing on the screen instead. There were several moments early in the film she was looking forward to - Somewhere Over the Rainbow being the first, and the technicolour arrival in Oz being the second. Should she explain why the film was in black-and-white? Or just let Laurel experience it? Deciding that most people preferred not to be interrupted while watching something new, she kept quiet.
