The comment of the similar taste that Higgs and Weasley shared, made Higgs give a rather sharp but genuine laugh. "Yes, I feel we have established that particular point quite well," Higgs commented with slight amusement. The situation as a whole really wasn't terribly amusing and Higgs knew they were both aware of it. But at the same time, Higgs was back together with Alicia and Weasley was... well, for one, dating Lydia. Higgs knew that he and Alicia were timidly giving their friendship another go and Higgs did still feel bad for not feeling completely comfortable with it, but there was little he could do about that.
"Even the most compatible of people sometimes can't make it work," Higgs commented with a shrug. He was hardly a specialist in relationships, having essentially only ever dated Alicia. Or at least, it was the most serious relationship he had ever had, even if there was a small moment when Higgs recalled that perhaps that wasn't exactly accurate. "It's always about compromise," he said. "Or at least, that's what I've always presumed," maybe other people manoeuvred relationship differently, but to Higgs compromise had always seemed the best approach. "Of course, I have a half-broken marriage to my name, so I'm not sure whether you should consider anything I say as valuable," he said with a small grin. Whilst him and Alicia were giving it another go, Higgs would be foolish not to admit that they had gone through plenty of failure beforehand.
