Perhaps Fi wasn't 'classy' as much as 'fussy', but either way, she was highly unlikely to want to go anywhere near Ashleigh. Especially not when Ashleigh so obviously didn't want the dog anywhere near her. Pushkin, though, was a different story, as he trotted into the kitchen. "Oh, I intend to," Higgs assured her as he picked the cat up, letting it boop Higgs' nose with his own, as demonstratively as he could. Pushkin was great and Ashleigh was broken if she couldn't appreciate that. Letting the cat back down, Higgs put the kettle on to get the coffee started.
"Thank you," he said genuinely pleased as she told him the house was nice and she was impressed. "I'm glad you like it," Higgs added honestly. Of course, in the grand scheme of things it hardly mattered whether Ashleigh liked it or not, since she wasn't the one to live there, but it was still nice to know that she agreed with Higgs in that the house looked nice. He had put a lot of effort into it.
At her announcement that he didn't have to feed her, Higgs did a similar hand wave to the one Ashleigh had offered. "Rubbish," he dismissed. "I need to eat, and it's dinner time, so you can eat with me, it's hardly any trouble at all," Higgs assured her before proceeding to pull out the necessary ingredients from the fridge and cupboards. "How have you been?" Higgs asked over his shoulder as he set up a chopping board and found some bowls for the raw ingredients. "How's that relationship of yours going?" He added curiously. Higgs didn't feel he had seen much of Ashleigh as of late, which meant he really wasn't sure how having a boyfriend was going for her. As far as Higgs was aware, it was the first serious relationship she had ever had, so it was obviously important to ask.
"Oh, and, either," Higgs told her with a small shrug. "Thought you really shouldn't have," he added both because it was the polite thing to say and also because she really shouldn't have bothered. Higgs was just pleased to have Ashleigh's company. Not that he was going to turn the presents away.
