Ginny laughed again. "Yes, I did want to meet them, as a way to be smug. I know I don't fit their plans, and I really wanted to rub it in their faces. But I also wanted to respect Marcus' wishes and never meet them." She shrugged. "They just happened to turn up at an event no one expected them to attend, and I am too stubborn to let an opportunity like that pass. They wanted to take us to dinner that night, but I didn't want to do anything on their terms."
Ginny realized then that, if she and Marcus were to wed, they would have to do it in secret so they would get to invite only those they wanted. "I'll try to keep my poor judgement to that one thing. Honestly, even though I would get a kick out of watching your mother squirm because of mine, I don't want them messing up anything that has the potential to be happy and good." She smiled at Pippa. "Which is my way of saying that I am now planning a meal with immediate family and you and Lucas."
