Daphne's relationship with her parents was one that was hard to really put labels on. She loved them, of course, that wasn't the problem. The problem lay in the fact that Daphne had been born being a disappointment. She wasn't the boy that they'd always wanted. Then she got a job that wasn't what they thought she should be doing. Now she was holding a secret that would just make their ideals explode in their minds and it was all just ridiculously disappointing for all parties involved. Her parents were disappointed in her and she was disappointed in them for making her feel so ruddy.
She laughed. "I lucked out in the fact that my sister is a lovely, wonderful person," she told him. "My parents aren't the scum of the earth, sure, but it always seems like I'm just this side of pleasing them. It's exhausting."
