Who: Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang. What: Cedric promised Cho they would go flying, and Cedric is a man who keeps his promises. When: Tuesday 21 June, early evening. Where: Ottery St Catchpole. Rating: PG.
It had taken quite a while for Cedric to get around to taking Cho for that flight he had promised, but such was the life of a man with a baby under a year old. He'd seen Cho since, of course, but not for any great length of time. Which is why, after they were done exhausting themselves in the air, Cedric wasn't in any great hurry to say goodbye. It was still light out, and relatively warm, so Cedric dropped himself to the grass next to his broom and looked up at Cho, still standing. "Sit with me," he urged. Flying was all well and good, but it didn't give them very much time to talk. "Tell me everything about your life, I feel like a bad friend for not knowing already."
The problem, Cedric was learning, with actually being in the country was that people stopped sending you letters laying everything out neatly in chronological order. You got it in dribs and drabs, from journals or brief meetings rather than all at once the way Cedric was more used to. It wasn't like school, where they'd been in one another's pockets after they got together, different common rooms or not, and Cedric knew he needed to get better at seeing people - and not just Cho - more often.
