It was ten minutes until the end of the last lesson of the week - double Charms - when Professor Potter threw her hands up in despair and told them all to get out. Everyone poured into the corridor, talking nineteen to the dozen about the Quidditch Final taking place the following morning. Everyone, except Ron. After stuffing his incomplete Charms notes into his bag, Ron found Lavender in the crowd and threw an arm across her shoulders. "It's Friday," he whispered, his mouth close to her ear, "skip dinner with me."
The term was getting closer and closer to its end and the teachers were piling homework on like never before. It had been over a week since Ron had managed to snatch any alone time with Lavender - but today he had a plan. And if the original plan had been Ginny's, Ron was going to take that little piece of information to his grave. Obligingly, Lavender agreed - giggling her goodbye to Parvati and letting Ron guide her away from the flow of students and towards the stairs.
Up and up they climbed, with Ron refusing to confirm where they were going until he finally pushed open the door to the owlery - which was blessedly empty of other students. "And we're here," he said, shifting his hands to Lavender's waist and drawing her towards him. "All alone," he added, significantly.
