It had been three months since he and Lottie had started casually dating with lunch and dinner dates here and there and snogging in between. Now though… Now it had been a week since they decided to make things official and actually call themselves a couple. It wasn’t normally the sort of thing Draco kept track of but he had decided to after realising just how long it had actually been since he had had something other than a casual relationship. And with the change in their status meant he was also constantly wondering (and worrying, not that he’d admit to it - though no doubt Lottie knew he was) how her siblings would react. It didn’t matter that Lottie had told him he needn’t worry about her family reacting badly. He might not have any siblings of his own but Draco imagined that if he did have any younger siblings he’d be wanting to make sure that any prospective boyfriend or girlfriend was good enough; or promptly deciding that no one was going to be good enough. Though to be perfectly honest he wasn’t sure if he was dreading meeting Lottie’s family or his meeting Lottie more. Or rather when Lottie and his father would meet; as he was somewhat sure, and rather hoped it was the case, that his mother would be happy enough to see that he was happy. Of course for any such meetings to take place he would actually have to tell his parents about Lottie, or in his mother’s case inform her that they were now dating and weren’t just friends like he’d told her a few days before Lottie and he had made it official. It was this thought, amongst others, that was currently running through his head as he sat there in the tea shop with his cup of tea currently forgotten about. -- It had been quite the day at work, which meant Celia had decided to stop and get herself some tea before going about the rest of her day. That was a proper reward, right? She thought so. While she could have gone home and made it herself, that didn't have the same feel to it. That was why she went to a shop nearby as soon as she was done at work, already changed back into normal clothes and ready not to think about the really bad laceration she'd been faced with for her last patient of the day. Cup of tea in hand, she glanced around to find a spot to sit - and that was when she spotted Draco Malfoy. She'd been meaning to talk to him for a while, ever since she'd heard of snogging going on between him and her sister, but there had never been a good time. But he was there, sitting by himself, so it seemed like the perfect moment had finally arrived. Celia walked over to his table, set her tea down, and plopped into the seat across from him. "Malfoy." -- Apparently he’d been thinking too loudly; as he was soon broken from his thoughts when Celia sat down across from him. Draco knew who she was of course, even if the most interaction they’d ever had had been at a makeshift Quidditch match where he’d fixed her broken arm. Though that had been well before he had even met Lottie and he hadn’t made the connection between the two until Lottie had told him about her siblings. On the bright side of things being in a public place meant things couldn’t go too horribly wrong. Right? “Wood,” he greeted calmly. “To what do I owe the pleasure of your company?” Draco knew he needn’t have really asked the question knowing that there wasn’t likely only one reason for Celia to have sought out a familiar face in a tea shop where there were more than enough empty tables to sit at. -- In Celia's opinion, Draco didn't look worried enough. He was dating her sister after all. She leaned back in her chair, ignoring her tea for the moment because she knew it was still too hot to drink. Her arms crossed and she studied him for a moment, her lips pursed as she considered what to ask, and how to ask. She didn't want to be mean or anything like that. Not unless he gave her reason to be. "So I hear you're dating Lottie," she said, tilting her head as she looked at him. "Which is quite a step up from kissing in cloakrooms." -- Draco was plenty worried but he wasn’t going to let on that he was - at least he certainly was going to try not to. He felt almost as if he were under a microscope with the way Celia was studying him. He would’ve spoke up but since she appeared to be on a mission he’d let her speak first. He didn’t have to wait long though. “Yes I am, and I suppose it is?” he replied, not entirely sure where Celia was going with that particularly line of talk. -- Well that was barely a cooperative response. Celia nibbled on the inside of her lip as she watched him. It wasn't that she had a problem with her siblings dating, not at all! But Lottie was her sister and her flatmate and important to her. It had been one thing to hear about the cloakroom snogging (and lap sitting!) and then the fancy dates, but now it was even more. "So what are you doing, exactly?" she asked, before waving one of her hands in front of her. "Not like that," she added quickly, realizing how her question could have been taken. "I mean, what are your intentions here - with my sister?" -- He was thankful that he had currently forgotten about drinking his tea otherwise he’d have had a mouthful of it that he would’ve spluttered out at Celia’s question. “Good. Although I wouldn’t have answered that question anyway, since it’s private and all,” he said. Not that they had even gotten to that point yet, but even if they had he certainly wasn’t about to talk about it with anyone other than Lottie. “I like her, a lot. It’s not like I’m about to go and intentionally break her heart, if that’s what you’re wondering?” -- If Celia wanted to know about her sister's sex life, she certainly would have asked her and not Draco. It wasn't like she hadn't been hearing stuff about Oliver's for years so it didn't exactly phase her when stuff like that got brought up with any of her siblings. "Well it's not exactly always intentional when it happens," she replied, frowning. "But that doesn't stop it from happening, either." She unfolded her arms to reach for her tea, pulling it in closer and letting her hands stay cupped around it. "She's important." -- “No, you’re right it doesn’t,” he said agreeing with her. Draco certainly didn’t intend for it to ever happen; at least intentionally since you couldn’t guarantee against everything, no matter how hard you tried. He attempted to drink what remained of his tea only to grimace slightly at the fact it was far colder than he’d been expecting. “I know,” he said, knowing even without siblings how important family was. “She’s amazing, and brilliant too. Somehow managed not to have been scared off by my bad mood…” -- Celia was slightly placated by the nice things he said about her sister - because they were all true. Lottie was amazing and brilliant, and he would do well never to forget those facts. She quirked an eyebrow at the last bit of what he said, the corners of her mouth twitching a little as a grin tried to fight through her Serious Expression. "We Woods don't exactly scare easily," she replied simply. Besides, she and Lottie both had practice dealing with brothers who were occasional grumps, who they had to prod into better moods - so it wasn't a surprise to hear. "I just want to make sure you know she's the best, and deserves nothing but happiness." -- “Oh, I know, even though it took me a moment to properly believe it,” he said, smiling at the memory of her all but marching to his place. He hadn’t been terribly receptive to her attempts at distracting him but he’d given and told her everything that had been bothering him and she… well, she was pretty amazing about it and although she said there wasn’t anything to deserve, he was still of the opinion he didn’t quite deserve her. “I don’t think I’m likely to forget that, and I intend on doing my best to make her happy, whatever that entails,” he said, hoping that it was enough for Celia. It might not be much but he’d meant every word. -- Well at least he was saying the right things, but he still had to go on and keep doing the right things too, and Celia certainly planned on paying attention. Not in a creepy stalker way, but she did live with her sister, after all, and they talked. "Good," she said curtly, taking a sip of her tea. "You'd better, because if you do anything to hurt her or make her sad - even unintentionally - I'll find you and make you hurt and sad." She pushed her chair back and stood, tea in one hand and the other planted on her hip. "So don't you forget that, either." -- If that was the current extent of Celia’s threat, because it possibly wouldn’t be the last time she’d check his intentions, he wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or worry even more about how her brothers would take to questioning his dating their sister. Draco could say any number of words as to how he wouldn’t do that but it was probably best left unsaid and instead simply treating Lottie well, and hopefully never getting on her sister’s bad side. “I won’t,” he said, briefly thinking if she ever had taken up Quidditch she’d have certainly been a fierce opponent. -- "Good," Celia said again, her eyes narrowing for a moment as she considered him, but she didn't feel like she had anything else to say to him - at that moment, anyway. If she heard of anything going less than well, then she would have plenty of words, she was sure. "Anyway, have a nice day!" With that, she turned on her heel and headed for the door, tea in hand. She didn't have a whole lot of time before she needed to be at the pitch, but if she was a little late it would have been worth it because that had been an Important Talk that needed to happen. |
