The announcement of the whole concept of alternate universes was something Lydia couldn't quite grasp her head around. However it did make her feel a tad bit better about the fact that she had been having very strange dreams about Higgs. It might have been a crazy situation but it was nice to know that at least she wasn't somehow developing feelings for her friend, because that wasn't what they needed in this situation. Their friendship had enough crazy stuff going on for them to deal with.
Maybe she was insane for thinking this but she felt she needed to tell Higgs about what she had been seeing. There was a very strong chance that he wouldn't want to know, but if she wanted to be comfortable in their friendship again, she couldn't keep this a secret. She was well aware that she would forever be acting weird around him if she kept this to herself. It had already caused a fight between her and George and while they were better now, who knew if it would come up again and in what terms.
So she invited Higgs over for dinner because one, everyone loves free food, and two, she would feel more confident talking in her own living space. I mean Higgs was her friend and she enjoyed spending time with him, but she also needed to get this off her chest. So it was now or never. Keeping herself busy while she waited to arrive she got about getting the food prepped for the pasta she planned on making.
