When Lily joined Evan on the sofa, he did shift closer. He really was doing better, but that didn't stop him from kind of just wanting Lily to hug him. But he was probably too old to need his mum to hug him, right? Evan wasn't sure. Was there an age when it became unacceptable to have mum-hugs? "Go on then," he said instead. "Inspect my well being," he told her teasingly, bumping one of his shoulders against Lily's. "I promise, I am okay," Evan added after a moment, more seriously. "Andrew's taken very good care of me," he assured her, because Andrew (and Aisling) had.
After a moment, Evan moved to reach out for the blueprints. He cleared the coffee table so he could open them up for Lily to see. "I've done three different ones," he informed her. "Well, the third one isn't completely finished because--" Evan bit his lip. He probably shouldn't have even bothered to mention that, it looked mostly finished, and maybe he could have postponed seeing Lily, but Evan wanted to show her what he'd come up with. It was just unfortunate that he'd lost three days to bed rest. "I was going to finish it up on Tuesday and then I didn't have the time," he said instead, like she wasn't aware what had happened on Tuesday.
"I hope you like some of the ideas I've come up with," Evan commented honestly. "But don't worry if you don't, yeah? Like I promise not to be offended," he assured Lily. It was true. Evan didn't want Lily to pick something just because Evan had made it, he wanted her to pick it because it was good.
