Evan had been right, the second day of bed rest was highly improved by Andrew not needing to be at work and Evan's healing potions having done a great deal of damage control. Yesterday hadn't really been as bad as Evan had been making it out to be, thought he had been pretty bored. Still, between Aisling's books and Daisy's visit, Evan had actually had a pretty alright time. Early yesterday morning he had also got an owl from Ron with the drumsticks Evan had asked him to make. With everything else going on, Evan had almost forgotten the request, but the owl had come at a good time, just after Andrew had left for work, so Evan's surprise wouldn't be ruined.
In between reading and having a Daisy, Evan had spent the day drawing carefully on the drumsticks. He was rather pleased with the present and hoped that Andrew would like it, too. It had come out well. This afternoon, they were sat in Andrew's bed, with Evan having gone into a rather long description of the book he had read yesterday. It was a pretty excellent book, so fair play to Aisling, especially with the amount of tea she had supplied Evan during his reading.
The description had been engrossing enough that Evan had almost forgotten about the present, giving a sudden 'oh!' when he remembered. "I made you something," Evan told Andrew. "I guess it's now a 'thank you for taking me in and letting me sit in your bed for days' present," he added with a frown. "It wasn't originally, though," Evan specified. It seemed important that Andrew knew this wasn't something Evan had done because he was poorly. Except, Andrew had let Evan stay and had been looking after him, so maybe Evan needed to think of another present, too. Perhaps one for Aisling, as well.
Reaching under the bed, Evan produced a terribly wrapped box. "Yeah," he said looking at the box like it had personally offended him. "Wrapping isn't one of my many skills, as it turns out," Evan added apologetically. It didn't really matter, though, what the box looked like, not when the present was inside it.
