Laurel watched her friend with a slight frown, at least momentarily glad that he wasn't looking at her. It hurt her to see him in such distress and to not be able to just make it go away for him. She had to remind herself that, even though she couldn't just hug him and give him tea and wipe away his tears, she was doing something by giving him company and a safe place. That was almost as good, right?
"Don't mention it," she said kindly. "Really. What are neighbors for?" She asked with a bit of a smile. At his question, she nodded. "Yeah, I was working on an outline. Sometimes inspiration hits at the most bizarre times."
