Bill frowned softly, because as much as he tried to think of one he couldn't come up with an answer. There was no way to separate the worlds in his head, and definitely no way to forget what he now knew. Knew, or imagined?
"I wish I knew," he said quietly, his gaze flickering down away from her. There were such strong feelings inside him, like amplification of what had been there before, the real ones. Except the new feelings had history, years of building, and were hitting him all at once. "We can't say ignore it, because that's impossible. It's not fair to try and adapt to them, because they're not for the real us. And yes, it's what we could have been, but there's no saying what we still could be... if that makes sense."
