Ron's expression made it quite clear what he thought about having cereal for any meal that wasn't breakfast. Ron could just about handle having a cold meal (like sandwiches) for lunch, but going a whole day without something hot made him cranky. "I don't think anyone's going to cook for me, except mum on Sundays." Daisy had given him pie once, and Lavender had cooked while they were together, but Ron wasn't expecting either of those to recur. "So if I want something better than cereal, I have to cook." Speaking of which, Ron returned to the stove with his tea, prodding once more at the vegetables. The few bits of onion seemed to be sticking to the bottom, so Ron scraped at them. Should he add water? He didn't think he was supposed to just yet.
He had wondered, in a vague sort of way, how long it would be before Andrew came up - but it was easy enough not to read anything too much into Evan's comment that he cooked, especially given he'd just said Daisy and Harry did the same. "What would you put in vegetable soup?" Ron asked, curious. He did think his would be fine, because it pretty much had everything mum's had, but he was still interested. Ron liked food, and trying new food, even if so far he didn't like actually cooking food. "I don't know how to make pancakes either." Molly had mostly focused on savoury things, because as much as Ron had a sweet tooth he couldn't just eat cake all day every day.
