If Higgs had had the time to concentrate on anything but the sparring, he might have given a thought to just how strange this really was. Usually, at least from what he had heard, people didn't tend to meet their exes and get to physically punch them, at least not in a way which was socially acceptable. It wasn't like he had ever wanted to hit her, of course not, but he couldn't help but appreciate the fact that he could actually touch her, even if they weren't particularly loving touches. Truth be told, it didn't matter, because this, right here, this was good. Even if Alicia's demeanour implied differently.
Blocking another hit, Higgs grinned at her. "Pretty sure you do if you're favouring your right side," he told her honestly. Higgs, too, had trained people, not in an official capacity, but there had been a lot of sparring on slow days. He had become rather good at teaching the younger guys how to iron out their problematic bits in a fight. And Higgs figured that if he could do that for an almost complete stranger, he was sure as fuck going to do it to make sure his wife can be better at her job. Saying that, Higgs could also appreciate that Alicia had a lot of skill. Not that he would have ever doubted her abilities, she always had been determined if the circumstances were right.
He took another hit to the ribs, before landing one on her. This was turning out to be a rather good fight, even if she was right, and he was holding back. It had very little to do with her being female, though, and everything to do with how tense she had been. "Fix your left," he instructed again. "Relax your shoulder," Higgs added before going straight for the said shoulder, for once, not holding his strength back. He would be shocked if the blow wouldn't dislocate her shoulder.
