Everything seemed to be catching up all of a sudden. Celia had been pulling double duty officially for two months. There was work, where she had to be quick and alert, not to mention knowledgeable and pleasant. She'd always been commended on her manner with patients, so were that to change it would be noticeable to the people around her, surely. But then there was also training, which she took just as seriously as her actual job. Oliver had been nice enough to lay out a schedule for her to follow, and that was exactly what she was doing, right down to the minute. It wasn't that she was complaining, because she truly wasn't. While she liked having time to go out and see friends, it wasn't as though she'd done that much before - and it was easy to ignore her lack of social and/or romantic life when she had a reason to avoid it. Work, then training, then bed. That was what most of her days consisted of - interspersed with smoothies and other food, if the schedule said so. It certainly couldn't be said that she wasn't dedicated. The World Cup complicated matters, but only because she cared so much so of course she'd been paying attention. Oliver had offered to let her come watch the team train and that had been too good to pass up, and then listening to the games on the wireless when she usually would have been sleeping - that took a bit of a toll. Not that Celia would admit it, because she didn't want any kind of lecture about how she was overdoing it, or look of 'I told you so' from anyone who might have voiced concerns previously. She was fully capable of doing it all! It just took a bit to adjust to a new piece of the puzzle falling into her schedule. So when her lunchtime rolled around at work, rather than head to the break room to eat like she normally did, Celia found a broom closet out of the way from the busiest corridors, one that looked like it was rarely used if ever, judging by the dust. She did a quick cleaning spell to make sure she wasn't going to end up with dust or dirt on her clothes, and sat on the floor, leaning back against the wall and using her robe like a blanket over her as she let her head tilt back to the wall and her eyes fall closed. It wasn't perfect but it was dark, quiet, and good enough a place to try and catch up on a little sleep while she had the chance. |
